You Will, I Will

Posted: September 15, 2016

"You will be my people, and I will be your God.” - Jeremiah 30:22

Ya know, I gave it some thought, and I decided that no parent has ever said this phrase to their child.

"I will be your dad, and you will be my son" -- nope, never happened. But God to his people, to his children? Yup, because he's God. Of course, he can do what he wants, but most importantly, he will always have a desire to know us and be with us and love us and provide for us and care for us, and chase after us, and clean up after us and... well, you get where I'm goin with this. God always has a heart for his children.

If you're parent, you get everything I'm saying, and if you're not, I'm sure you've at least babysat for your niece or neighbor or sibling or someone, so you get it too.

No matter how sinful and ignorant we might be, we are never beyond God's reach. We can't separate ourselves from his love. No matter what we do or don't do, God will always be our God, and we will always be his children.

God, I am thankful that I will always be your child. Thank you for always being a loving Father. You have always been and will always be good to me. Thank you for loving me and thank you for always being my God. In Jesus' name, amen.
