"You get what you get...

Posted: June 26, 2017

...and you don't throw a fit!"  This is a saying at our house that I say to my kids often.  Life isn't fair.  You're not going to have the *exact* same amount of ice cream in your bowl as your sister, it's just not possible!  You get what you get...be thankful!

Ironically, 1 Thessalonians 4:11 sounds a lot like a parent talking to a child... "make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands..."

Unfortunately, with social media in our faces all day every day, the comparison game can get the best of us.  Do yourself a favor:  don't compare your paint colors to your high school friend's who lives in another state.  Don't compare your shoes to your old college buddy's whom you never see.  Definitely don't compare someone else's date night pics and mushy-gushy soulmate posts with your own season of marriage.  Focus on your life and your family and your calling.  You get what you get.

Lord, thank You for all that You have blessed me with!  Show me how to honor You with all that I have and may I never lose the eternal perspective.  Amen
