When Trials Come
Posted: August 29, 2016
“Bad things don’t happen to good people! Especially not good Christians. So don’t worry, it’s all going to be fine!”
If you’ve heard that before, I hate to burst your bubble, but whoever told you that was LYING. That’s right, lying.
Bad things DO happen to good people, and even to good Christians! Good Christians get cancer, they have miscarriages, their children choose to turn away from God, and they lose jobs.
Scriptures explicitly states that on earth, we WILL have many trials and sorrows. Not “you may, or might, or it’s only possible if you disobey.” Troubles and trials are not reserved only for those who sin, but they will come to everyone at some point in life.
They key, though, is the truth you cling to when those trials do come. When tragedies happen in your life, instead of trying to understand the why (which we likely won’t understand this side of heaven), be comforted by Jesus’ eternal victory and find peace in His word.
“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.
- John 16:33 NLT
Jesus, thank you that you have overcome the world. Help me to cling to you and your Word to find peace and victory through you in the midst of trials. In Jesus’ name, amen.
