What is God asking you to do?

Posted: January 06, 2017

As we begin the new year, have you asked God to give you goals, dreams and visions for 2017?

As we come toward the end of this week of fasting, make that part of your prayer time. Ask him what plans he has for you this year! Ask him how you can serve him, seek him and glorify him even more through your talents, time and resources.

But when you ask, don’t be surprised if God gives you goals, dreams and visions that are even bigger than you can imagine!

Perhaps God is asking you to go on a mission trip this year? Maybe he’s asking you to serve in an area of ministry in the church that is a stretch for you. Maybe he’s asking you to increase your giving above and beyond the tithe and to trust him completely in your finances. Maybe he’s asking you to spend more time with him. Maybe he’s asking you to reach out to that coworker that’s going through a tough time. What is God asking you to do?

Don’t be afraid if he asks you to do something out of your comfort zone. You’ve probably heard this before, but if it’s God’s will, it’s God’s bill! That can apply to anything he’s asking you to do! He won’t ask you to do something and then not provide the resources for you to accomplish it. That’s just how he works!

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done…And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
- Philippians 4:6, 19

Lord, thank you that you will give me big dreams for 2017. Give me the courage to pursue them, trusting you all the way through. In Jesus’ name, amen.
