The Whole Story
Posted: October 26, 2016
We’ve been in this series on Revelation, and this past week we covered some heavy (and sometimes confusing) stuff. Seals and trumpets and angels and plagues and dragons and battles and all kinds of crazy things!
Sometimes, it’s tempting to shut off our brains to the things we can’t understand in the Bible. I admit there have been times I have simply skipped over or ignored the things that seem too complicated or confusing (or even scary) to read. But like any story, if you skip over or ignore important parts, you will never fully understand the whole story!
So let me challenge you today to go back, re-read and study those parts of the Bible that are difficult to understand.
Nothing in the Bible is in there by accident (2 Timothy 3:16)!
Everything included in the Bible (even and especially the book of Revelation) is in there for a reason! Everything in there has purpose and value, and should be treated as such. So don’t shy away from the hard, confusing parts of the Bible; but press in, study and ask God to open your mind and give you understanding as you are obedient to read his word.
The words and prophesies in Revelation will one day come to pass. Wouldn’t it serve you well to have read it and to know what’s coming?
“Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear.”
- Matthew 24:35 NLT
Lord, thank you that you’ve given us your word to instruct, guide and teach us. Thank you that the book of Revelation gives us an idea of what’s to come. Help us to study it with diligence, and give us wisdom and understanding as we sift through even the most difficult parts. In Jesus’ name, amen.
