The Ultimate Decision Maker

What does it look like to have Jesus be the ultimate decision maker in your life?
Sometimes, allowing Jesus to take control of the decisions in your life can be scary. What if I don’t hear from him? What if I make a mistake? What if I think I’m following His voice only to find out I was wrong? What if?
How do you practically submit your decisions to Jesus and allow him to steer the path of your life?
First, you need to decide to lay down your own will and desires in exchange for His will and desires. If you want God’s will and agenda more than your own, you have put Jesus in the position to make the decisions in your life, (that means putting him first!), instead of putting yourself first.
Second, first you need to be in constant communication with Him. It’s difficult to gain any direction from someone you’re not regularly talking to. The Bible tells us to pray, asking him for what we need, and thanking God for what he’s done. That includes asking God for direction in your decision making!
Third, you need to read your Bible. God’s word is our ultimate guide in this life, and it is full of wisdom and practical answers to many of the dilemmas we face during our time on earth. The Bible tells us to meditate on the word day and night and to hide the word in your heart, so that we will know the will of God when we come to a cross road.
Allowing Jesus to be the ultimate decision maker in your life is scary at first, but also freeing. You no longer bear the weight and pressure of knowing what to do in any given situation.
“In everything you do, put God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success.”
- Proverbs 3:6 TLB
Dear Lord, I want you to be first in my life and I want you to be my ultimate decision maker. Help me to keep your first and to seek your will above all else. In Jesus’ name, amen.
