The Love Chapter

Most people hear 'the love chapter' and know what comes next: "love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast"...but sometimes we gloss over the first part of that chapter:
"If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing." 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
We could meet every life goal, surpass every expectation we put on ourself, excel in every area...but if we don't LOVE people, we are nothing. Ouch!
Sometimes it's good to step back and look at life in terms of who we're loving and how, because that is really, really important.
Jesus, help me to love others more and better. I don't want my life to count for nothing because I was too busy and distracted to show Your love. Give me more opportunities to love others! Amen.
