The Gentle Answer

"A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare." Proverbs 15:1
I'm sure we've all been in a situation with a sibling/friend/coworker/parent/child/spouse where there's an argument, and one person finally, wisely, maturely, takes on some blame...and then the other person says "No, no, it's not all your fault, I shouldn't have said/done that..." and the bomb is diffused! It's amazing.
It's funny how some of us think everything is all our fault, and some of us think nothing is ever our fault. There's a balance in there of looking introspectively and asking the Holy Spirit to reveal to us what we need to change, what we need to keep doing, what we need to ask forgiveness for, and what we need to forgive. So, today, find a point of tension in one of you relationships and try a gentle approach. Pray about your responses (past and future) and ask for forgiveness in all areas necessary. You'll be amazed at the results!
Holy Spirit, I need You to soften my heart and speak to me about this situation. I want to see growth and progress and I want the peace and love of Jesus to reign in my heart. Show me what I need to change and how to do it. I know it won't happen overnight, but I want to honor God with my words and actions and see spiritual fruits blossom in this relationship. Amen.
