The Beatitudes - Part 5

“When Jesus saw his ministry drawing huge crowds, he climbed a hillside. Those who were apprenticed to him, the committed, climbed with him. Arriving at a quiet place, he sat down and taught his climbing companions. This is what he said:
“You’re blessed when you care. At the moment of being ‘care-full,’ you find yourselves cared for.” Matthew 5:1, 7
I had a middle school teacher that often urged her students, if we were at all feeling lonely, bored, rejected, ignored, etc…to go and do for someone else. Take a small gift to a friend, do a favor, do a chore without being asked, invite someone to hang out, go make a new friend, whatever you can think of! The act of going & doing for others usually casts away those yucky feelings about ourself. Give it a shot!
Jesus, I’m feeling ignored but I know there are people who care about me. Show me who I can go to and start the cycle of caring. I don’t want to wallow in self-pity, but be the hands and feet of Jesus to those around me. Amen!
