"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light" 1 Peter 2:9
Sometimes I feel like a teeter-totter in my walk with Jesus: One day I feel small and dirty in my sin, and the next day I claim a verse like this and feel like royalty! The truth is that we are both. We are, as Abraham said, "dust," but we are also sons and daughters of the Almighty King! It's almost impossible to take on both of those roles at the same time, but technically we do. So remember to keep that balance and "not think of yourself more highly than you ought."
Jesus, I know what I deserve because of my sin, but through your sacrifice on the cross, I get to sit at God's table. Thank You for grace! Help me remember that only through You am I chosen and royal and special. Thank You for your marvelous light! Amen.
