Suit Up

The end of Ephesians chapter 6 talks about putting on the full armor of God:  the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, boots of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, sword of the Spirit...but WHY?  That's an important question, and here's the answer:

"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."   Ephesians 6:12-13

We often forget because we cannot physically see the spiritual battles going on around us, but we are constantly at war with the enemy.  He's a big bully, and he wants to destroy every good thing God has going for you: your family, your peace, your job, your joy, your ministry, your prayer life, etc.  So let us not underestimate the Holy Spirit's power and ability to reveal when we're under attack and how to get on our knees to pray...so that we can stand.

Holy Spirit, I know that You are bigger and better and stronger than anything the devil can throw at me.  I ask for protection from the fiery darts of the enemy, and for the words to pray when I am under attack.  Thank You for always being my Comforter no matter what trials I might face.  Amen.
