I was just talking to a few fellow moms yesterday about how, after you have kids, you just have to love your stuff a little less. You can't love your beautiful couch as much because it's one flu season away from being totally ruined. You can't love that vintage glass vase too much because it's one football's throw away from being shattered. Stuff is just that...stuff. Matthew chapter 6 says it best:
"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven..." (Matthew 6:20)
Nobody can ruin the love you give to others. Nobody can break the peace you cling to. Nobody can physically steal your joy! Praise the Lord!
Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us spiritual treasures that can never be broken or stolen or destroyed. Help me to fix my eyes not on toys or technology, but on You and the eternal things You bless me with. Amen!
