Spirit of Fear

Posted: March 03, 2018

2 Timothy 1:7 says, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline"

As humans, we have a lot of fears. Think about all the times that you have said or thought the words, "I am scared." You probably can't count it because we all say and think this a lot. I think often, we operate out of fear. But God didn't give us a spirit of fear.

I can think of plenty examples where I was too scared to go up and talk to someone about my faith, so I just didn't and later regret it. I operated out of fear. God didn't give me that fear, in fact, He was hinting at my heart that I should go speak to that person. The enemy instilled that fear because he knows the weight that sharing Jesus with someone else has. In that moment, what if I would have said, "I don't have a spirit of fear. I have a spirit of power and a sound mind." I probably would have walked over and had a conversation with that person.

God, I pray that I would walk confidently and boldly today. You haven't given me a spirit of fear, so I will walk with my head held high. Thank you for this power and love that you offer. May I use it today to be obedient to You and share Your love with someone else. Amen.
