Seeing Isn't Believing

Posted: June 27, 2017

"Then Jesus told him, “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me. - John 20:29

I'm sure we've all heard the phrase "seeing is believing" before. But God never meant for our vision to be the thing that leads us to salvation. Jesus never meant for our eyes to lead us to faith in him.  We are blessed when we believe him at his word, without needing proof.

Seeing isn't believing. No, believing is seeing our God meet your need before you even have to ask. It is trusting God to meet your every need because he promised he would. It's having faith that God is who he says he is, even when what you "see" with your eyes may say otherwise.

We must trust God because he is trustworthy. We must put our hope and faith in him because he is faithful.

And when we can do this very thing, we will be blessed, because Jesus said so.

Lord help me to take you at your word. Help me to believe without needing to see. Help me to trust you no matter what. And help me to encourage others to do the same as best I can. In Jesus' name, amen.
