I used to teach kids church to first and second grade girls on Wednesday nights.
No doubt, memorizing scripture was a challenge for several of them (and me!), but each verse always had a special song that put the verse to music, which surprisingly made it much easier to remember.
To this day, 10 years later, I still remember almost every one of those scripture memory songs. It's amazing to me how some of the verses I remember best are the ones set to a song meant for a first grader! There's something about singing it out, instead of just memorizing it in my head, that really made it stick.
Did you know God doesn't just want you thinking about scripture, He wants you expressing it? Out loud? It's true!
So today, pick a scripture, any scripture, and make up a little song for it. Maybe by singing it out, it'll stick with you for years to come!
"The Word is near you in your mouth and in your heart." Romans 10:8 NIV
Lord, thank You that Your Word is alive and powerful. Help me to not just memorize it, but to express it out loud, over my life, in all situations. In Jesus' name, Amen.
