Rooted In Love

Posted: April 24, 2019

Ephesians 3:17-19 “Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to fully understand. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”

It’s common to hear people talk about having a whole in their heart or that they’re looking for their other half, and they’re all ways to say that they’re not complete until another person loves them. Maybe you feel that way, that you aren’t fully complete because you don’t have a spouse or children. And while those feelings of hurt are real, you’re not incomplete. God is what makes us whole. And He is good to us all the time, He never leaves us feeling like we aren’t good enough or that we’re without. He completes us in every single way. He gives us peace, rest, strength, kindness, and love so lavishly that it should make us ask “why” every single time. And the beautiful thing is that the answer to the question “why,” is that He loves you. We don’t deserve the love that He gives us, but He gives is anyways. When you are rooted in His love, when you know that He loves you and is for you all of the time, your outlook on your circumstances begin to look a little different.

God, I can’t even begin to imagine how much you love me. And I’m so thankful that you sent your Son to die for me. Everything that you do points back to your love for me and I cannot say how grateful I am for that. I want to be so rooted in your love that nothing is able to shake me or uproot my faith. Help me to daily operate in your love and help others see you through me. I love you, amen.
