Reward > Cost

When you have a child for the first time, it’s truly one of the most amazing things in the world. But it’s also one of the most life changing things in the world!
If you already have a child, you understand that having kids means you can kiss your old life goodbye. Sleeping whenever you want, going on a weekend trip on a whim, having a clean house, or even going to the grocery store alone is no longer an option. Your life is forever changed once that sweet baby enters the world. For the rest of your life, your children will affect every decision you make.
Now while the adjustment to life with children takes a little time, many parents will agree that even with the struggles and hardships of caring for children, the reward is far greater than the cost. No struggle, no inconvenience, no embarrassment by your children can ever outweigh the love and care you have for them.
No matter how hard, you’d do it all over again, because they are worth it.
It’s the same when we come into relationship with Christ. Although you kiss your old life goodbye when you gain salvation, the new life you have in Christ will always outweigh your old life without Him, no matter how difficult. Losing your life for the sake of Christ can be hard, but it’s always worth it.
“Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?’”
- Matthew 6:24-26 NIV
Lord, thank you that your word promises that when we lose our life for the sake of Christ, we gain a new, better life in you. Help us to leave behind our sinful desires and the pleasures of this world to take up our cross and follow you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
