Remain In Christ

To really be able to embrace your identity in Christ, you must first be in Christ.
But what does it really mean to be in Christ? Like, how can I practically, literally be in Christ?
In John 15, Jesus gives us the answer:
“Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.”
- John 15:4-5 NLT
The phrase, “to remain,” in these verses basically means that you must be active in your in relationship with Christ, constantly choosing to spend time with Him, seek Him, read His Word and talk with Him. Just like in any relationship, you must remain with that person for your relationship to be successful.
It’s no different with Christ. To remain in Christ, you must be actively talking to and seeking Christ through prayer, worship, and reading His Word.
As believers, we know that it is only through Christ that we live, move, breathe and have our salvation. So wouldn’t you want to stay close to the one who gives you life? I sure do.
Lord, thank you that you give me life, salvation and help me to live a fruitful life. Help me to remain in you by actively seeking you, because I know that apart from you I can do nothing. In Jesus’ name, amen.
