Picture the scene:
You go to Starbucks, excited about the return of the seasonal and scrumptious pumpkin spice latte. You place your order at the counter. You pay. You wait at the bar to receive your delicious prize, salivating at the thought of the smooth, sweet treat you are about to enjoy. You wait in anticipation for what feels like an eternity.
And then, they call your name.
A chorus of angels start singing in your head as you walk toward the counter, pick up your prized PSL, and bring it to your lips for the first, long-awaited sip!
It hits your mouth and all of a sudden, alarms start going off in your head…all that you had envisioned your precious PSL to be comes crashing down as you realize your drink is not hot, not cold, but LUKEWARM.
You resist the urge to gag, although you may actually spit out your mouthful. (I wouldn’t judge you!) Your disappointment begins to surface. The long awaited PSL has let you down and you attempt to keep from sinking into a deep, dark despair.
Ok. Now I know that was dramatic. But for real, wouldn’t you be disappointed with a lukewarm drink from Starbucks? I know I would. I would return it for one that was hotter!
It’s the same in our Christian walk. The Bible actually says that those who are lukewarm will be spit out! So today, decide that you will give it your all, that you will burn with passion for the Kingdom of God!
“I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!”
- Revelation 3:15-16 NLT
Lord, help me to not be cold or lukewarm for the things of God, but to be passionate about Kingdom business. I want to live for you with all that I’ve got. In Jesus’ name, amen.
