Obedience + Humility

Richard Exley writes,
“May you always have the courage to be obedient to the One who called you, no matter what the cost. Yet in your faithful obedience may you be humble not proud, gentle not overbearing, and loving not manipulative. May others see the Spirit of Christ in you and be drawn to Him. May the fragrance of His presence permeate every encounter you have.”
It’s important that in your obedience to God’s call on your life, you remain humble. Instead of acting holier-than-thou, be humble so that others may see the spirit of Christ in you and want to know more about the Jesus you serve. True obedience includes total humility, trusting not in your own strength, skills or ability, but soley on Christ’s power within you to accomplish that which he has called you to.
“When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.”
- Acts 4:13 NIV
Lord, thank you for the calling on my life. Help me to walk out that calling in obedience with total humility, trusting only in Your strength so that others may see You in me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
