Never Too Far

Do you feel far from God? Have you deliberately turned your back on him and walked the other direction?
I have good news for you. You are NEVER too far from God for him to hear your prayers. Jonah deliberately disobeyed God, ran in the complete opposite direction, was thrown into the sea and swallowed by a big fish. But even then, God heard his prayer.
God didn’t abandon Jonah or tell him, “because you refused to listen to me, I won’t listen to you.” No!
When Jonah cried out to God from inside the belly of the big fish, God heard his prayer. Jonah had nowhere to turn except to God. And when he did, God not only heard his prayer, but had mercy on him and ordered the big fish to spit Jonah out! Now, he could've had the fish spit Jonah out in the water and make Jonah swim to shore to think about all of his mistakes, but he didn't! Instead, he had the fish spit Jonah right onto the beach. Out of the waves and ocean that threatened to kill him just a few days earlier.
God heard Jonah’s prayer and answered him, bringing him back to safety. God is always eager to hear your prayers and is merciful when you turn back to him.
“Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from inside the fish. He said,
‘I cried out to the Lord in my great trouble, and he answered me. I called to you from the land of the dead, and Lord, you heard me!’”
- Jonah 2:1-2 NLT
Lord, thank you that no matter how far I have run from you, you still hear my prayers and answer me. I will cry out to you in my great trouble, for I know you will be with me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
