“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
The dictionary defines mighty as “possessing great and impressive power or strength, especially on account of size.” This little newborn possessed great and impressive amounts of strength. What makes this even more special is that Jesus was born and lived in such a humble way - in a stable, not with the richest parents, not with the best home in his neighborhood, or with the nicest form of transportation. But despite his literal size, his family’s social standing, this precious baby is our Mighty God. Jesus moved in such mighty ways and He is still moving in lives today.
Jesus, I’m thankful that you are seated above all. We cannot comprehend your power and might. I lift your name up today, Jesus. I pray that You would be felt, known, and experienced powerfully by those who don’t yet know You this Christmas season. Amen.
