"Stand united, singular in vision, contending for people’s trust in the Message, the good news, not flinching or dodging in the slightest before the opposition. Your courage and unity will show them what they’re up against: defeat for them, victory for you—and both because of God." Philippians 1:27-30 (MSG)
Raise your hand if you are/were in a marching band! (Ok, maybe don't raise your hand, apparently marching band isn't cool?!?! Psh, whatever.)
Whenever I hear the word "unity" I tend to think of a really, really good marching band. You've probably seen them when they make neat formations and move in unison - it's hard to believe that each of those points is an individual person - they look fused together! If even one of those people were to just break off and quit or decide to do their own thing, it would ruin everything.
There's not really anything to 'defeat' in a marching band (except stereotypes *wink*) but when we stand united as believers, as brothers and sisters in Christ, as warriors for eternity...God is lifted up and there is victory!
Lord, I want to stand up for You and be united with Your vision, Your purpose, Your kingdom. Give me courage to stay unified with the calling You've given me and those in my life who are on my team. I want to see Your victory! Amen!
