Keep it simple, sweetie. Sometimes it's good to bring it back to the basics. If you're overwhelmed with all the "shoulds" of Christianity, I hope this brings you peace:
“If you love me, obey my commandments." John 14:15
That's pretty simple stuff. In other words, God is saying "if you're committed to Me, do what I've told you to do." Maybe you're wondering what God's commandments are. They're listed out in Exodus 20, but here's the gist: Don't worship anything or anyone except Me, don't misuse My Name because it's holy, take a day of rest, respect your parents, don't lie, don't cheat, don't steal. There are other commandments for different seasons of life; like if you're married, God commands you to love and serve your spouse. If you work (who doesn't?) do it cheerfully.
Ya know, just do the right thing as best you can. God doesn't expect you to be perfect, He just doesn't want you to quit.
Jesus, thank You for loving me no matter how well I think I'm doing. You know my heart; I want to know Yours. Show me how to love You better and obey Your commands. I know I don't have to be perfect, but help me to do my best. Amen.
