Keep On Asking

When you sit in church and you hear about the Holy Spirit, have you ever thought to yourself, “I want to have the Holy Spirit dwell in me…I want to feel God’s presence in my life…But I’ve never experienced it. Maybe I’m not good enough of a Christian and that’s why I haven’t experienced it before…”
I bet many of you have thought that before. I know I have! But it’s just not true. If you long to receive the Holy Spirit but haven’t received it yet, don’t give up. As believers, we are promised the Holy Spirit through faith (Galatians 3:14), and the Bible describes having the Holy Spirit as, “a foretaste of future glory” (Romans 8:23). How could you not want a Holy Spirit filled life?
So what do you do? The Bible says to ask, and you will receive! Don’t give up hope. Keep on asking!
“You fathers—if your children ask for a fish, do you give them a snake instead? Or if they ask for an egg, do you give them a scorpion? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.”
- Luke 11:11-13 NLT
Lord, thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit that dwells within us as believers and is promised to us through faith. I ask you to pour out your Holy Spirit on my life. Thank you that with the Holy Spirit we get a taste of future glory and eternity in Heaven with you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
