Immanuel: God With Us
Posted: December 18, 2018
“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel (which means “God with us”).” Isaiah 7:14
How often do we think about the fact that God is with us? How often do we pray as though God is with us? How often do we act as if the God of the universe is with us? Well, He is, in more ways than one.
God sent Jesus to be with humanity, and He was for about 33 years. He was fully God and fully man and he ate, slept, and walked around in our world.
God also sent the Holy Spirit to be with each of us. He is our Comforter and He gives us power.
The fact that God is always with us gives us hope! We are never alone and we are never without His power and peace.
Immanuel, God, You are with me! Thank you for sending Jesus to earth to model a holy life. And thank You for sending Your Holy Spirit to go alongside me. I am so grateful that You are with me always!
But Lord, there are also so many people in our church and in our community that don’t know your nearness. I pray that they would sense your love for them and your nearness to them this Christmas. Amen!
