To Infinity and Beyond

Posted: September 13, 2016

"For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, northings present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

- Romans 8:38-39

If you're a parent, then you probably understand more about grace and mercy and love than you think you do. How many times will your child(ren) do the opposite you say until you stop loving them? How often will they backtalk you before you decide to give up on them forever? How long will you put up with their incessant whining and complaining before you decide to hang up your hat and quit being a loving parent?

All of us would do anything and give anything to ensure our kids feel loved. Sure, you also want to discipline them so they don't grow up to be spoiled brats, and sure, sometimes you want to punch them in the face or put them in a choke hold and go all MMA on them (jk... I think....), but you'll never stop loving them and caring for them -- no matter what.

And if you feel that way about your children, even though you yourself are a broken individual, how much more does God, who is perfect in love, do that for us? God loves us so much more than we could ever love our kids. God loves us to infinity and beyond (you should totally read that again but in the voice of Buzz Lightyear).

God's love is forever - nothing can ever separate us from his love. Nothing.

So today, know that you are loved, and know that there is nothing you can do to separate you from that love.

Lord, thank you for loving me. Thank you for your boundless and limitless love. Thank you for always seeing me as your child and for always loving me like the good Father that you are. Help me to know your love and to demonstrate that love in my life more each day. In Jesus' name, amen.
