Still I Chose the Cross

Posted: April 23, 2018

What’s your deepest, darkest secret? You know, the one you’d be ashamed for anyone to know about. That secret that you bury and hide so that no one will ever find out about it.

Guess what? God knows your secret. You can’t hide it from Him. He sees everything you do, in the most private, secret, hidden parts of your life. He knows it all.

Steffany Gretzinger in her song, “Out of Hiding” writes,

“Come out of hiding, you’re safe here with me.
There’s no need to cover what I already see.
You’ve got your reasons, but I hold your peace.
You’ve been on lockdown, but I hold the key.
‘Cause I loved you before you knew what was love,
And I saw it all, still I chose the cross.

Wow. What powerful words! Even with our deepest, ugliest sins, Jesus still loved us so much that he chose to die on the cross for us so we could have a relationship with the Father. Thank you Jesus!

When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.”
Romans 5:6-8 NLT

Jesus, thank You for choosing the cross even while I was still deep in my sin. Thank You for seeing it all, yet still choosing to love me, forgiving me of all my sins. You are so good and gracious! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
