How Many Grains of Sand?

Posted: April 20, 2017

Have you ever been to the beach? If you have, you know how annoying sand can be. It gets in your shoes, on your clothes, in your hair, and in just about every nook and cranny of everything you take with you to the beach.

And while it is true that sand can be annoying, have you ever thought about how many billions and trillions of single grains of sand there must be to make up just that one beach you visited? Let alone the hundreds of beaches there are on the entire earth. The sheer number of grains of sand on the earth is so overwhelming, I can’t even wrap my brain around it.

Did you know that the Bible says God’s thoughts about you outnumber the grains of sand? It’s true! God loves you and is constantly thinking of you. Any parent can relate. Even when their kids are not around, thoughts of their kids are sometimes relentless. They can’t stop thinking about them! God is our father, and loves us as his kids. And with that, He thinks about you more often than you can even count.

I don’t know about you, but I’m thankful for a God who is so personal that his thoughts about me outnumber the grains of sand!

“How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered. I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!”
- Psalm 139:17-18 NLT

Lord, thank you that you are my Father, and that you constantly think about me, your child. You are a good Father, and I love you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
