Honor & Trust

Posted: December 13, 2017

Recently, I got up early (almost never happens) and so did my 7-year-old daughter (always happens) so we snuggled up on the couch together and read our Bibles.  We read in Genesis 47 about when Joseph forgave his brothers and helped them meet with Pharaoh to get land and jobs and food.  We talked about how Joseph responded to all the injustices and misfortune he endured and how difficult it must've been to forgive his family.  A few minutes later, the verse-of-the-day popped up on the YouVersion app:

"But the Lord watches over all who honor Him and trust His kindness."  Psalm 33:18

I said "isn't that neat?!  We were just talking about how Joseph honored God and trusted Him even when things were going horribly wrong, and here this verse is saying the exact same thing!"
Daughter:  "mm-hmm, can I have more juice?"

I'm sure the serendipity isn't lost on you.  This might apply to your life in this holiday season of gatherings and exchanges:  when in doubt, honor God and trust that He is watching over you and will reward you with His everlasting kindness.

Heavenly Father, I want to honor You and trust You in every area of me life.  Thank You for watching over me and showing me kindness.  Give me the mindfulness to respond in kindness to those around me so that I can shine Your light.  Amen.
