We are a moody bunch, aren't we? I, unfortunately, find myself at the mercy of my mood more than anything else. If I got a good night's sleep and the sun is out and the day is going as I planned it, then I'm in a good mood. When I'm in a good mood, everything is easy and funny and well. I love my family and friends, nothing is irritating, everything is beautiful.
But even if I happen to be in a good mood, and one little thing pops into my head, like "I look stupid in this shirt" or "remember when I said that one horrible thing to that one person 15 years ago? I'm an idiot" my mood *POOF* tanks. Now I'm crabby and sad, the clouds roll in and I hate everyone. Good grief!
"The joy of the Lord is my strength." Nehemiah 8:10
It's amazing how joy (not happiness, btw) can strengthen us. Even when things aren't going well and we have every right to be down in the dumps, finding joy in anything the Lord has done lately can be the tipping point to having the strength to make it through. Let His joy be your strength!
Lord, You are joy everlasting. In heaven, there will be nothing but joy and I can't wait. Today, give us awareness of Your joy around us and renew our strength. Your joy is our strength every single day. Thank you for joy! Amen.
