God & Sinners Reconciled
Posted: December 05, 2016
Have you ever tried to reconcile a broken relationship? It can be awkward, painful, messy and uncomfortable.
Sometimes, we don’t even want to make the first move in reconciling a relationship because it just doesn’t seem worth the pain we’d have to endure in order to reconcile with that person.
But thankfully, when faced with the decision whether or not to reconcile with humanity, God didn’t give up on us. When we rejected him and sinned against him, he could have chosen to avoid reconciliation. But he didn’t!
Instead, he chose to reconcile us with himself, even though it would cost him his Son.
This Christmas season, take some time to thank God for choosing to reconcile with us through sacrificing his son Jesus on the cross for our sins.
Like the classic Christmas song says, “Peace on earth and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled!”
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
- John 3:16 NIV
Lord, thank you for choosing to reconcile with us, even while we were still sinners. Thank you for choosing to send your son, Jesus, as a sacrifice for our sins. Help us to remember especially during this Christmas season. In Jesus’ name, amen.
