"Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.”
Psalms 1:1-3 NLT
Have you ever thought, "I want to be a better parent" or "I wish I was a better spouse" or I wish I was a better _______"? I know I have - A LOT. But did you know that the ability to do so is not in what you say or do but what your attention is on?
Everything we put our mind and our hands can prosper if God is first in our lives. If we seek only his counsel and obey only his word, we will prosper in everything we say and do. It's not about being right and doing right - those things are the natural byproduct of a life that is spent with God and in His Word.
What would it look like to be able to work and operate as a spouse, parent, friend, employee and knowing that everything you say and do will produce fresh fruit?
God's word must thrill us. It must be what excites us. It must be the thing that is at the center of all we are and all we do.
God, I know that when I am in your Word and in tune with your Spirit that I will be fruitful and blessed. Help me to make your Word the most important thing I do each day. Not simply reading it, but meditating on it. Thank you for the gift that your Word is to me. In Jesus' name, amen.
