Forgiveness on Repeat
Posted: May 01, 2019
There are so many times in my life that I have to remember “it’s not about me.”
Waiting in line at my favorite restaurant, sitting with my child while they struggle through something, training a new employee at work, listening to a family member talk about their day even though I’m exhausted…those are trying moments when I must remember “the world does not revolve around me, and I need to put my wants aside right now.”
But on the topic of forgiveness, it’s flipped. Since I can’t force someone else to apologize or change, I forgive to keep MY heart right before the Lord. It’s about me! As Pastor John said in his message on Sunday: we need to put forgiveness on repeat!
Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.” Matthew 18:21-22
Jesus, I know that You forgive me all day, every day, when I make wrong choices. Thank you for your unfailing forgiveness and love! I want to keep my heart open and pure before you, so help me forgive others. No matter what, when, how, or why, I need to repeatedly forgive and put my hope in You. Thank You for Your awesome example! Amen.
