Forgive and Forget

Posted: September 27, 2017

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?" Isaiah 43:18-19

How many times in our own life have you sinned, asked for forgiveness, and then still beat yourself up about it? I'm sure that everyone can think of at least a time or two. It's hard to shake off our mistake and get it out of our mind. We replay it over and over again, making ourselves feel less worthy of the forgiveness and grace God has to offer us.

When we have gone through a difficult season or have sinned, once we enter a new season and accept forgiveness, our minds and thoughts shouldn't live in the past. God wants to spring new life up in you. Even if we constantly try to remind ourselves and God of the past, He has already moved past it and is looking to create something new inside of you.

God, I thank you for your forgiveness and grace that you lavish upon us. We don't deserve it but you freely give it and I thank you for that. I pray that you would help me to not live in the past, open my eyes to the new opportunities that you are giving to me. Amen.
