Fix My Eyes

Fred Rogers often told this story about when he was a boy and would see scary things on the news: “My mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’ To this day, especially in times of disaster, I remember my mother’s words, and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers — so many caring people in this world.” Before Fred Rogers became THE Mr. Rogers, he was a minister. So I'm sure he was not only fixing his eyes on the good people in the world, but moreso on the One who is always good.
"Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul? Why are you crying the blues? Fix my eyes on God— soon I’ll be praising again. He puts a smile on my face. He’s my God." Psalm 43:5 (MSG)
Speaking of children's television, can't you just hear a little child saying this out loud? "He puts a smile on my face, duh! He's my God!" Oh to have the faith of a child! And what a good, good Father we all have as children of God
Heavenly Father, help me to fix my eyes on You in good times and bad. I know that even when my soul is downcast, soon I'll be praising again because You never leave me. Thank You for being the best Dad ever!
