“Listen! Every one who is thirsty, come to the waters. And you who have no money, come, buy and eat. Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend money for what is not bread? Why spend your pay for what you do not enjoy? Listen well to Me, and eat what is good. Find joy in the best food. Listen and come to Me. Hear, so you may live. And I will make an agreement with you that lasts forever..." Isaiah 55:1-3
We've all been there. We didn't have enough time or money or ingredients, so we settled for a meal that came in a paper bag and left us with a tummy full of regret. Ew.
This verse in Isaiah is a metaphor. What is the "best food?" Jesus, of course! His Word, His teachings, His presence. And just like I could tell you about the best meal I've ever had (probably at a Ruth's Chris steakhouse...just sayin') it wouldn't do it justice - you need to taste and see for yourself! So, what are you waiting for? Go devour His Word and inhale the aroma of His sweet presence. You'll walk away full, guaranteed!
Jesus, I long to sit in Your presence and be filled by You. Just like I need to spend time and money for a healthy and satisfying meal, I need to invest my time and energy to be with You and hear from You. Continue to help me grow my discipline to seek Your face. Thank You for always showing up! Amen.
