Everyday Olympics

Posted: January 31, 2018

Here's an interesting thought:  what if they held Olympics for everyday life stuff?  Who's the gold medal best parent ever?  Who would take the gold for a successful marriage?  Who wins in the dinner-cooking category?  If this sounds stupid to you, I have to agree.  Why?  Because there are way too many variables.  There's no such thing as the "best" family because every family is different and has uniquely different challenges.  Every married couple is completely different: we can't compete for ultimate happiness.

The bottom line is that what's best for someone might not be best for the next person because we're all in different situations and different seasons.  Therefor:

"Let your eyes look straight ahead, and your eyelids look right before you.  Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established.  Do not turn to the right or the left..."  Proverbs 4:25-27

Let's stop comparing our lives to anyone else's.  God put you in your world for a reason - be faithful with what He has given you.

Father, thank You for everything You have entrusted to me: my home, my job, my relationships, my ministries...I want to honor You with all that I have.  Show me the areas that I get lost in comparison and give me contentment and joy for where You have me today.  Amen.
