Eternal Perspective

Posted: October 18, 2016

When you’re having a tough week, I’d encourage you to read through the book of Revelation.

WARNING: if you’re looking for warm fuzzies, you’re not going to get them in Revelation. But what you are going to get is a hefty dose of perspective.

When I read through Revelation (even the parts that seemed confusing and strange), I was overwhelmed by the sovereignty and power of God and the everlasting nature of eternity. He is in charge of the stars and the wind and the mountains and he can move them at his will in a moment. And will reign forever and ever and ever. Wow!

It sure made me re-evaluate the things in my life I was spending time focusing on. At the end of the day, when Jesus returns, I want to be on His side and reign with Christ in Heaven for eternity! So are the things I’m doing/saying focused on spending eternity with Christ?

Then the stars of the sky fell to the earth like green figs falling from a tree shaken by a strong wind. The sky was rolled up like a scroll, and all of the mountains and islands were moved from their places.”
- Revelation 6:13-14 NLT

Lord, thank you for the book of Revelation. Thank you that it reminds us of just how awesome and mighty you are, and that it encourages us to focus on the things that are eternal. In Jesus’ name, amen.
