"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13
You may have heard this verse before; you may have heard it a LOT. It's a popular one.
I felt God press this verse into my heart before a mission trip a few years ago - but He brought to my attention a different version that used the word "endure" in place of "do."
"I can endure all things..."
That word changed the whole verse for me and gave me a totally different attitude. I was no longer concerned with all the things I would DO on the trip, but I felt way more equipped to handle all the things I would have to ENDURE on the trip: stressful travels, extreme weather, language barriers, racial divides, dark religions, political dangers, illness, fatigue, homesickness, etc. God basically told me "yes, it's going to be a difficult and demanding trip, but I've got you." That gave me so much strength and security!
Lord, thank You for speaking to Your children and for giving us the strength to endure anything. You use the good days and the bad days to make us into better, more Christ-like lights to shine in this dark world. We love You! Amen.
