It comes out of nowhere. That nudge. That feeling. You’re talking to your friend, your mom, the sales associate at the register, the person at the drive through window, or even your annoying coworker, and BOOM…it happens.
You feel like you should ask to pray for them.
You know you felt it, but now you’re trying to ignore it.
What if they say no? Or even worse, what if they say yes? What will I say? What if they think I’m weird? What if people laugh at me? What if I pray for them and nothing happens?
All these questions and doubts starting flooding your mind, and the next thing you know, the moment has passed, and you feel like you missed out on God’s leading.
If you’ve ever done this, don’t be discouraged. Instead, be comforted by the truth of scripture that reminds us that in these moments, we will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon us. When you’re obedient to His leading, he will empower you! So next time you feel that nudge, remember God’s truth and go for it!
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
- Acts 1:8 NLT
Lord, thank you for the promise in your word that we will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon us. Give us the boldness to be your witnesses, praying for our neighbors when we feel the nudge to do so. In Jesus’ name, amen.
