You have probably heard about the battle that we're always in, as Christ-followers, between the flesh and the Spirit. Our flesh is weak, lazy, selfish, disobedient and impatient - it's our "sin nature" that we were all born with. BUT. God's Spirit lives in us when we commit to follow Jesus:
"And God has given us His Spirit as proof that we live in Him and He in us." 1 John 4:13
His Spirit is, of course, the opposite of our flesh. His Spirit is mighty, loving, peaceful, patient, diligent and full of self-control.
So if our flesh is one dog in the fight and the Spirit is the other dog, and they're constantly snarling and biting and barking at eachother.......which one wins?
Whichever one you feed.
Father, I feel the ongoing battle of the flesh against Your Spirit in me. I want to feed Your Spirit! Remind me when I have opportunities to practice love, obedience, and self-control. Thank You for giving me Your Spirit, I want it to grow stronger in me. Amen.
