Crowns

Posted: November 03, 2016

One year for Halloween, my mom (who was totally creative and an awesome seamstress), made me a Queen Esther costume (yes, like the Queen Esther from the Bible!).

I remember it vividly, because at six years old I thought it was the most awesome costume ever. I had a purple, green and gold royal robe, fancy shoes and of course, a crown complete with jewels and feathers. It. Was. Awesome.

I felt so stately, so noble, so elegant, and so royal while wearing that crown! I truly felt like a queen! Maybe that’s why little girls love dressing up as princesses. There’s just something about wearing a crown that makes you feel pretty cool.

That’s why I love that God chose to give us a crown as a reward in Heaven.

Each crown is given for a specific reason: the crown of rejoicing for the soul winners, the incorruptible crown for those who diligently lived pure lives, the crown of righteousness for those who served God with a heart for Heaven, the crown of glory for faithful servants, and the crown of life for those who resisted temptation and persevered under trial.

What crown will you wear?

“Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”
- Revelation 22:12-13 NIV

Lord, thank you that your word promises us that we will be rewarded. Help us to live righteous lives, enduring trials, winning souls, and faithfully serving you so that we will receive crowns in Heaven. In Jesus’ name, amen.
