Contentment Means...

Posted: February 25, 2019

Jimmy Evans says that contentment doesn’t just mean not wanting more, it means trusting God for anything more. Let’s test this out and replace the word “content” with “trust God” in the verses below:

“You’re blessed when you’re content/trust God with just who you are—no more, no less.” Matthew 5:5

”I’ve learned by now to be quite content/trust God whatever my circumstances….Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am. “ Philippians 4:11-14

So be content/trust God with who you are, and don’t put on airs. God’s strong hand is on you; he’ll promote you at the right time.” 1 Peter 5:6-7

Fancy that, it works! What a relief that true contentment is so simple - {not necessarily easy!} - but simple. Trust Him. Just trust Him.

Father, thank You for showing me how to be content and trust You with anything and everything more that You have in store. I want to share that faith and trust with others who may not know You and therefore may not be able to fully grasp true contentment. Amen!
