Comparison

Posted: June 20, 2018

There's a quote floating around that's being credited to Bill Murray: "Social media is training us to compare our lives, instead of appreciating everything we are. No wonder why everyone is always depressed."
It's so true that we cannot spend our lives comparing relationships, houses, vacations, spirituality, education levels, work success...because we are all on a different path and are called to different things.

It makes me think of Queen Esther.  From the outside, people probably thought she was "sooooo lucky" (or the women did, at least) but on the inside, she was facing a life-or-death decision.

“Don’t think that just because you live in the king’s house you’re the one Jew who will get out of this alive. If you persist in staying silent at a time like this, help and deliverance will arrive for the Jews from someplace else; but you and your family will be wiped out. Who knows? Maybe you were made queen for just such a time as this.”  Esther 4:14

Wherever you are in life right now...maybe you were put there for just such a time as this?

Lord, help me fight the trap of comparison.  I know that You don't make mistakes, so I am who I am, where I am, when I am, for a reason!  Show me Your plan and help me to do my very best to honor You for just such a time as this.  Amen.
