Children of God

Posted: April 18, 2017

I recently read a statistic that stated there were approximately 400,000 children in the US foster care system, of which roughly 100,000 are waiting to be adopted.

Can you imagine what it would be like to be one of those children? Left wondering if you were unwanted, wondering if it was something you did or didn’t do, or if it was something wrong with you that kept you from having a normal, loving family?

While not all of those children are orphans by definition, many of them struggle with feelings of rejection, inadequacy and abandonment.

Maybe you struggle with some of those same feelings, whether or not you were once in foster care or orphaned as a child. But the good news is regardless of your earthly family dynamics, in the family of God, everyone is wanted, loved, and belongs!

The Bible tells us that when we receive Him as our Savior and believe in His name, we become adopted into His family!

No matter your family situation on earth, you will always have a place in God’s family, and He will always love you and care for you as His child!

Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God…”
- John 1:12 NLT

Dear Lord, thank You that when I receive You as my Savior and believe in You, the Bible tells me I get adopted into your family. Thank you for loving me as Your child. In Jesus’ name, amen.
