Picture the scene:
Christmas morning. 7am. (Ok...let’s be real…it’s probably more like 5:00am…)
Your little one awakens knowing that TODAY is the day! The day they have been anticipating has finally arrived! It’s Christmas!
Before you can even roll over in bed, they have already raced downstairs to find their stocking filled with goodies, and gifts that have magically appeared under the tree.
As they stand there, their faces shine with amazement and joy, taking in the reality that Christmas has finally come, right on time, just like you said it would!
I bet they weren’t worried about the details or the what ifs, and I bet they didn’t even worry that Christmas might not come. You had been telling them that Christmas was coming, and without hesitation, they believed you!
Christmas through the eyes of a child can teach us a lot about faith. Children don’t stress about Christmas; they anticipate it with joy! They fully believe that Christmas will come, and they have no doubt in their minds about it!
What if we believed God’s promises with that same faith?
“Jesus called a little child to him and put the child among them. Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.”
- Matthew 18:2-4 NLT
Lord, thank you that Christmas is a time that reminds us to have faith like a child. Help us to learn from our children this season, and help us to trust you with the same kind of unwavering faith. In Jesus' name, amen.
