When you think of a great champion, who do you picture?
Maybe you think of a WWE champion. (It’s ok, I won’t judge you for watching WWE. Just kidding, I am totally judging you right now.)
But all jokes aside, I love how at the end of those wild, dramatic and entertaining wrestling matches, the champion stands triumphantly over his opponent, roaring wildly with his victory cry, while his opponent lies on the mat, unable to get up. The crowd goes nuts, chanting the victor’s name in unison, while he revels in his glorious accomplishment.
Now theoretically, if you were in a fight with a tough opponent, you wouldn’t mind a WWE champion coming to your aid, fighting for you and defeating your enemy…am I right?
Well guess what? As Christians, we have the ultimate Champion on our side, fighting for us, and triumphantly conquering our enemies. What a comforting thought! (Much more comforting than the any thoughts of the WWE.) Jesus is victorious, and he is our Champion!
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
- Exodus 14:14 NIV
Thank you Lord that your word says you will fight for us. Help me to trust you in the midst of my battles and to be still, knowing that You are victorious. In Jesus’ name, amen.
