Cease Striving

Posted: February 24, 2018

My youngest daughter is a snuggler.  She will climb onto my lap or shimmy up my legs like a koala bear at any moment, just for a hug.  When we watch a movie, she likes to hold my hand or nestle right into my side.  The best part about this relationship is the trust - she never worries that I'm going to shoo her away, and I don't expect anything from her in order to be close.

"Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”  Psalm 46:10

You may know this verse as starting with "Be still..." but the interpretation is the same.  God's love is unconditional.  He doesn't require extravagant accolades in the king's english before we can come to Him with a personal need.  He doesn't need you to do ten acts of kindness before you can pray for His kindness towards you.  If you think you're not "good enough" for God to love you, He has a message for you..."cease striving."  He is God and He is love and He wants to have a relationship with you.  You are good enough.

Father God,  I believe that You want to know me, and I definitely want to know You.  Thank You for always being there.  I want to draw closer to You and know You more as Lord of my life.  Help me to seek You more!  Amen.
