"All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us." 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
We humans are getting pretty good at comforting ourselves: food, alcohol, attention, technology, or money can all be used to give us false security. But if you've experienced God's enveloping comfort in a true season of despair, you know that those earthly things can't compare.
The Holy Spirit was sent to us to comfort us, and *bonus* now we in turn can comfort others when given the chance. It's a win-win. (It usually is with God.)
Lord, thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to comfort me and teach me how to comfort those around me. Let Your love and peace settle in my heart, especially when I feel anxious and upset. Amen.
